The Department of Fashion Design, S.S. Jain Subodh Girls P.G. College, organized an intellectually stimulating Guest Lecture on the topic “Design: Beyond Aesthetics – Shaping the World Around Us” on 19th September. The session was attended by students from all semesters of the B.Design program, along with faculty members.

The event commenced with a warm and dignified welcome to the gathering. A special welcome was extended to the distinguished guest speaker Mrs. Suhani Jain, whose presence added immense value to the occasion. The session was further graced by Principal Dr. Rita Jain Ma’am whose visionary leadership continues to guide the institution, along with Head of Department, Dr. Poonam Panghal, esteemed faculty members and students. As a gesture of respect and goodwill, Ms. Suhani Jain was felicitated with a plant by the Principal Ma’am.

Delivering her keynote, Mrs. Suhani Jain offered profound insights into the transformative power of design, underscoring its ability to transcend surface aesthetics and meaningfully shape human environments, experiences and futures. Her interactive approach fostered critical thinking among students and encouraged them to perceive design as a discipline with social, cultural and functional significance. The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who actively engaged in discussions and posed thoughtful queries to the guest speaker, making the lecture highly interactive and enriching.

The program concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks delivered by Mrs. Kanika Yadav, who expressed gratitude to the guest speaker, Principal Ma’am, faculty members and students for their invaluable contributions in making the session a success.

The lecture not only expanded the intellectual horizons of the participants but also reinforced the role of design as a catalyst for innovation and meaningful change.
