The Department of Fashion Design organized an educational visit to Shobha’s Art Studio on July 19th, 2025 as part of its ongoing efforts to provide students with practical exposure to the world of applied art and hand-painted design.

During the visit, students had the wonderful opportunity to interact with Shobha Ma'am, an accomplished artist known for her versatile and vibrant artwork. She extended a warm welcome and shared valuable insights into her creative journey and artistic techniques.

Ms. Shobha demonstrated the use of various color mediums in her paintings, showcasing her expertise in hand-painted artworks. Her collection included exquisitely painted sarees, kurtis, shoes, coasters, curtains and many other items; each reflecting intricate craftsmanship and a unique artistic flair. The students were fascinated to see how traditional and contemporary art could beautifully merge in functional design pieces.

Throughout the session, she encouraged students to explore their creativity and shared numerous ideas on how to incorporate hand painting into fashion and lifestyle products. Her guidance was both inspiring and enriching for the budding designers.

A notable highlight of the visit was her generous offer of internship opportunities to the students, opening new avenues for learning and hands-on experience in the field of hand-painted art.

The visit proved to be highly educational and creatively stimulating. It not only broadened the students understanding of applied art in fashion but also motivated them to think innovatively in their own work.
